Sprint Filter builds this material to last as long as the motorcycle it is fitted to, and that changes what the purchase is. A consumable is used up by the person who buys it. A lifetime part is handed over with the keys. The 368K is a 2025 machine, so most examples are still with their first owner and most will not be in ten years' time. Whatever goes into the airbox now is very likely still in there on the day the bike is sold.

Priced against the years you keep it

This element asks a shade more than two and a third times what the standard weave for the same housing does. Spread across a decade of track days that ratio is arguable. Spread across two seasons before the bike changes hands, it is largely a payment made on behalf of the next owner, who did not ask for it and will probably never know it is in there. The standard element faces precisely the same arithmetic and starts from a much smaller figure, which is why it survives the calculation far more often.

The condition that would justify it

There is one, and it is narrow: full throttle held high in the rev range, repeatedly, session after session, on a machine used for that and largely for that. Under that duty cycle the raised flow rating is genuinely being asked for, and the slightly more open weave — 85 µm rather than 80 — is an accepted cost, since circuit air is cleaner than the air on most roads in any case. Away from it, the element is quieter about what it does not do. It does not raise the power of a standard 368K, because a panel in an unmodified box cannot, and what is bought is capacity rather than performance.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air is the everyday method: work it from the clean face outwards, and the dust leaves along its own entry path instead of being driven further in. Sticky deposits need lukewarm water and a mild detergent, rinsed out until the water runs clear again. Drying is done in moving air at room temperature, never with heat, which finishes polyester silently and permanently. Refit the SM295S F1-85 dry, with nothing added to it.
