Read the headline figure of this element with its units still attached. Fifteen thousand litres per square metre per second: a rate, worked out for an area nobody sells and a second nobody notices. The panel that goes into a Voge Brivido R of 2020 is not a square metre of cloth, and the catalogue never says how much cloth it holds. Without that figure the rating cannot be turned into litres of air at this airbox, which leaves it good for one job — comparing this medium against the others built for the same box.
Key Features
- The racing weave of the P08 family: polyester, single layer, dry from new and never oiled
- 85 µm between the threads at a rated 15,000 l/m²/sec, the highest flow Sprint Filter builds
- Retention measured at 95.22 per cent of 100-micron particles, against 93.13 for the road medium
- Around twice the filtering cloth of other performance elements, carried in the standard frame
- Sits in the series airbox in the paper panel's place, with nothing cut and no remapping
- Regenerated with compressed air rather than bought again; two years of guarantee from purchase
The figure the catalogue does not print
A flow rating is normalised so that two materials can be compared at all. To turn it into something an owner can use you need the other half of the sum, the area of the element itself, and Sprint Filter gives that only in words: roughly double what other performance elements carry. Both halves of the claim are therefore qualitative by the time they reach a Brivido R. What survives is honest and limited — one cloth passes air about three times as freely per unit of surface as another cloth, and both are folded into the same housing.
What the comparison is worth here
It tells you which direction you are moving in, and no more. Against the standard CM251S at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec, this element opens five microns further and triples the rate. The first half of that sentence applies to every kilometre the motorcycle covers; the second applies only where an engine is held near the top of its rev range with the throttle wide, which is not how a road-registered twin spends its life. So say the rest plainly: a drop-in element does not make a standard Brivido R noticeably stronger, whichever medium is in the box. It holds the intake at one low resistance that can be put back.
Care and cleaning
The CM251S F1-85 is serviced, not consumed. Compressed air on the clean face, worked outwards so the dirt leaves along the path it came in, covers the ordinary interval. When air stops being enough, lukewarm water with a little mild detergent finishes the job; rinse until the water comes away clear. Then let it dry in moving air and nothing else — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and refit it dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the airbox of the Voge Brivido R of 2020, as a direct replacement for the standard paper panel. Nine Voge listings take this racing element, spanning 500, 525 and 625 cm³ from 2020 to 2026. The complete list is in the Fitment tab.
