This cloth arrived in the family with the airbox, not with a race bike. The code it replaced covered KTM's faired RC models alongside the nakeds; the 2024-on listing, as it stands, has no faired sports machine on it at all. So the racing weave is offered here to a list of road motorcycles, and it is offered because a medium is drawn against a housing and then follows that housing onto whatever the factory builds around it.
Key Features
- Sprint Filter's racing weave: dry polyester, 85 microns, 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Catalogued against this airbox, which the current range fits only to road machines
- Dry throughout its life, so no oil film can reach the sensors of a modern single
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Straight swap for the original panel; nothing modified and no remapping needed
- Cleaned and refitted indefinitely, with two years of warranty from purchase
A medium follows a housing
Fitment tables are built from part geometry, and that is a good thing: it is what lets one well-made element serve seven machines. It does mean a designation can turn up somewhere its name sounds odd, and a buyer has to do the sorting that the catalogue cannot. The presence of a racing cloth on a list of road bikes is evidence about the airbox, not about the machines, and reading it as an endorsement is the one mistake this page would like to prevent.
So what is it for, here?
Rate, and only rate: 15,000 litres per square metre per second against the standard cloth's 5,050, bought with a wider opening at 85 microns instead of 80. Conditions that call on that are brief and rare on a public road, and the part costs well over twice what the standard element does. It adds no output either — nothing dropped into a standard airbox does, and a single homologated inside the A2 category has its ceiling set by the engine and its approval. If dust is the reason for shopping, the fine nonwoven at 14 microns and 1,800 is the other direction entirely, and the cheapest of the three.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air at the clean face of the PM293S F1-85, worked outward across the weave, returns the load the way it came and is all most services need. When the cloth holds more than air will shift, wash it in lukewarm water with mild detergent and go on rinsing until the water leaves it clear. Drying is done in moving air with no heat involved at any point, and the element goes back only when it is dry right through, with nothing applied. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the KTM 390 Duke, 2024 to 2026, in the standard airbox. Seven entries across the current KTM and Husqvarna singles share this element, and the Fitment tab lists each with its model years. An earlier Sprint Filter listing for the 390 Duke also extends into these years, so check the build year and the housing rather than ordering on the name alone.
