The fitment line under this element runs from 2007 to 2026: twenty model years of Triumph's 1050 triple behind a single part number. Tanks, fairings and instruments get redrawn every few seasons because customers see them. An airbox is tooled once around an engine and a frame and then left alone, because nobody sees it and every change costs paperwork. The machine in the showroom was revised, renamed and re-mapped more than once across that span, while the cavity the filter drops into stayed put. The Sprint Filter PM115S is cut to that cavity, not to a model year.
Key Features
- One layer of woven dry polyester, the yarn from ø 22 microns upward, the weave held to an 80 µm aperture
- Rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec, the flow figure Sprint Filter attaches to its standard road and track medium
- Completely dry in service, so no oil creeps downstream onto the air sensor or the throttle bodies
- Pleated to hold roughly twice the working area of a conventional performance element in a housing that never grew
- Drops into the original airbox; nothing is cut, nothing is adapted, the map stays as delivered
- Washed and refitted rather than binned, rated for the life of the bike, covered by a two-year guarantee
Twenty model years behind one part number
For an owner that has two practical consequences. The first is ordering: no revision to cross-reference, no cut-off date halfway through a season, no risk of buying the element for the facelift when you own the bike before it. The list is one line and your machine is on it. The second is supply. A consumable tied to one model year disappears once the model does, while a part that has served the same housing since 2007 keeps a demand base wide enough to stay in production.
What the element changes, and what it does not
It will not make a standard 1050 triple noticeably quicker. What changes is the shape of the curve. A cellulose element is a consumable by design: lowest restriction on the day it is fitted, then a steady climb, so the worst air path the engine ever sees is the fortnight before you get round to changing it. A washed polyester element returns to its starting point every time, which means the intake resistance in the twentieth month resembles the resistance in the first. That is a stability argument, not a power argument.
Care and cleaning
An air line does the routine work: applied to the clean face of the PM115S, it drives the dirt back out the way it came in. After a filthy season, wash the element in lukewarm water with a mild household detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry in open air, never with a heat gun or a flame, and put it back dry. Oil plays no part at any stage. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Triumph Tiger 1050 across model years 2007 to 2026. The same PM115S covers five machines on the 1050 platform: this Tiger, the Tiger SE 1050, the Sprint GT 1050, and the 2005–2010 Speed Triple and Sprint ST. Confirm your year and variant in the Fitment tab before ordering.
