Size chart MT Helmets Genesis R SV
| Size | Head circumference (cm) | Head circumference (inch) |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 53–54 cm | 20.9–21.3 in |
| S | 55–56 cm | 21.7–22.0 in |
| M | 57–58 cm | 22.4–22.8 in |
| L | 59–60 cm | 23.2–23.6 in |
| XL | 61–62 cm | 24.0–24.4 in |
| XXL | 63–64 cm | 24.8–25.2 in |

How to measure your helmet size correctly: Measure your head circumference with a flexible tape around the widest part of the head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows. Measure 2–3 times and compare with the chart. Between sizes, usually choose the larger size.
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without uncomfortable pressure points. A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

White shell, navy lower half, and red chevrons stepping across the flank with a run of fine navy detailing behind them. Vibe A7 is the classic-looking Genesis, and the question it should answer first is whether you want a modular at all.
Modular or full-face: the honest comparison
Against a fixed full-face at a similar price, a flip-up gives up three things and gains one.
It gives up weight — a hinge, a latch and their reinforcement have to weigh something. It gives up a little quiet, because a shell split across the middle has a seal where a full-face has none. And it gives up some chin ventilation, because the mechanism runs through exactly the area a full-face uses for a large intake.
What it gains is a helmet you can open without taking off. Fuel stops without unfastening a strap. Talking to someone at a barrier without shouting. Glasses put on after the helmet rather than threaded in blind. A drink at a viewpoint. None of that is a safety argument, and we will not dress it up as one — but for touring and commuting it decides whether a helmet is one you tolerate or one you stop noticing.
And who should not buy one at all: if your riding is sports-bike posture at speed, buy a full-face. Your neck is extended, the extra mass is furthest from where it is comfortable, and the noise penalty is worst exactly where you spend your time. The advantages of a flip-up are all things that happen at a standstill, and a sports rider stops less often.
About the Vibe A7 finish
Gloss throughout. The crown and the upper flank are white; the chin bar and the whole lower shell are a deep navy, and three red chevrons step diagonally across the side with fine navy detail work behind them. GENESIS is lettered near the visor mechanism, and a small badge sits at the crown.
White over navy with a red accent is the most conventional combination in this design family, and the one that will look least of its year in five years' time — conventional is what conventional is for. It is also the version of the Vibe that reads clearly at a distance: the two-tone split by area is legible when a busy graphic has already become texture.
The chin bar and its lock
The bar rotates up and back over the crown and is held by a locking system when closed.
The test to run in the shop: close it one-handed and listen. It should seat and latch in a single movement, with an audible click, without being helped into place. A mechanism that needs a second hand or a nudge is one you will eventually ride with unlatched — and a chin bar that is not latched is not a chin bar.
P, J, and DOT: none of them published
ECE 22.06 marks a modular P (ride closed), J (ride open) or both, on the label in the chin strap. MT does not publish which applies to the Genesis R SV, and no DOT marking is published either.
Ride it closed, and read the strap label if riding open matters to you.
ECE 22.06 in short
Mandatory since January 2024: 18 impact points against the 22.05's five, several speeds, an oblique impact against a rough anvil for rotational loading, and a Brain Injury Criterion ceiling. For a modular the standard also tests the chin bar and its latch — the part a flip-up has to prove and a fixed helmet does not.
Sun visor and screen
An integrated drop-down shade, and the 935 screen with a wide field of view, prepared for Pinlock DKS279 or DKS002. No insert is supplied.
Two Pinlock references rather than one means the screen has been made in more than one pin configuration over the model's life. Check which yours takes before ordering — the reference is moulded near the pins at the edge of the screen.
No published weight
MT gives no gram figure for the Genesis R SV. We are not going to print an estimate as though it were measured; if the number decides your purchase, ask and we will weigh one.
Intercom on a flip-up
The helmet is prepared for an intercom, with room in the lining for speakers. No system is supplied.
A modular is the best helmet class there is for an intercom, and for a reason that has nothing to do with the electronics: you can open the chin bar to talk to somebody standing next to the bike without ending the call, taking the helmet off, or shouting. On a group ride or a pillion trip that turns an intercom from a gadget into the thing that shapes the day.
When to replace it
After any impact, immediately, however undamaged it looks. The EPS liner crushes once, does not spring back, and the compressed area is invisible from outside.
After around five years from first use, regardless of mileage — the foam loses its ability to crush progressively and the adhesives age whether you ride or not. On a modular there is a third check nobody mentions: work the chin bar mechanism every few months and listen for it. A latch that has started to feel vague is a helmet to have looked at, not one to keep riding and hope about.
Retention and interior
A micrometric ratchet holds the strap, and the whole lining comes out for washing, with recesses moulded in for the speakers of an intercom system.
