DescriptionThe whole story▼
The liquid-cooled R1200GS put a great many riders a long way from home, and its right-hand controls did the work. The JP CO BM018 replaces the throttle housing and the switch block with one milled Ergal unit, without lettering.

The Bike That Defined a Category
When BMW moved the boxer to liquid cooling in 2013 it was replacing the best-selling large-capacity motorcycle in Europe, and it did so carefully. The result kept the telelever front end and the shaft drive and gained a genuinely modern engine. For six model years this was the default answer to the question of what to ride across a continent.
Why the Housing and the Switch Are One Part
On this generation BMW built the right-hand controls into the throttle assembly rather than clamping them separately to the bar. That means a worn switch cannot be replaced on its own, and it means a replacement has to bring its own throttle housing. This unit does exactly that: one machined body carrying both, fitted in place of the original.
What a Decade of Use Does
A GS of this age has typically covered a great deal of ground in conditions that a sports bike is kept away from. Grit, salt, high-pressure washing and the occasional fall all reach the same corner of the handlebar. The moulded original does not break; it simply loses its precision, and the mode button starts needing a second press.
Plain, Because This Version Fits Everything
JetPrime also sells this housing with a GS badge milled into the flank. This one has no lettering at all, which makes it the version that suits an owner who has repainted, rebuilt or otherwise personalised the motorcycle and does not want a model designation added back on.
Fitting It Without a Dealer
The assembly comes off with the bar-end weight and the grip, and the new one goes on in the reverse order. The connector is BMW's own, so there is no splicing and nothing to code afterwards. It is within reach of an owner with hand tools and an afternoon, which matters on a motorcycle whose owners tend to service their own machines between trips.
