DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 021 keeps a CBR 250 R running once the sidestand and its switch have come off.
Key Features
- Honda CBR 250 R (2011–2015)
- Bypasses the sidestand safety switch
- Suppresses the resulting dashboard fault
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
- No cutting and no splicing
- Fully reversible to standard
A Learner Bike at Circuits
Small Hondas fill novice track sessions because they are cheap to run and almost impossible to frighten anybody on. Preparing one properly costs very little.
What Gets Removed First
Mirrors, indicators, licence plate, stand. The stand takes its switch with it and the motorcycle then refuses to run in gear.
Closing the Circuit
This unit presents the state the ECU expects from a retracted stand. The engine runs, the dash stays clean and nothing has been bridged with a paperclip.
The RA Suffix
It denotes the ABS version, which Honda sold alongside the standard bike. Both take the same sidestand circuit, so the suffix does not change the part.
Twenty-Six Horsepower
From a 249 cc single. The CBR 250 R was never fast and it taught a generation of riders to carry corner speed, which is a more useful skill than any amount of power.
Five Model Years
This fitment runs from 2011 to 2015, after which the 300 replaced it. The loom is unchanged across the run.
Reversible in Minutes
One connector near the swingarm pivot, no cutting anywhere. The switch goes back whenever the stand does.
Cheap to Prepare
The whole eliminator list for a bike like this costs less than a set of tyres, which is a large part of why small-capacity track days have grown the way they have.
Not for the Street
Leaving the interlock disabled on a road bike removes a protection that exists for good reason. On a machine that still has a stand, leave the switch alone.
Built in Thailand
Honda assembled the CBR 250 R at its plant there for markets where a small, cheap and genuinely well-made sports bike matters more than outright pace. The build quality embarrassed a good deal of what else was available at the price, and it is why so many are still running.
