Honda feeds this engine through two airboxes, so what comes out at the interval is not one panel but two elements. The line in the schedule that stops repeating

A cellulose panel is discarded for a reason unconnected to wear: it cannot be cleaned without being destroyed, so it goes in the bin regardless. On most bikes that is one item per service. Here it is two, and it returns at every interval for as long as the machine is kept. A washable element does not remove the work — the airbox still opens and the cloth still gets inspected. What it removes is the purchase at the end, and here it removes it twice.

What a faired tourer asks of its intake

The NT1100 shares its engine and airboxes with the Africa Twin, but not its life. Almost all of its air comes off sealed roads — motorway spray, tunnel soot, the grit hanging in the slipstream of traffic — and it arrives in long steady volumes rather than bursts, the condition in which intake restriction is paid for continuously rather than occasionally. The P08 adds no power; no standard engine hands that over for a filter change. It holds the restriction where it started instead of letting it climb between services. Where the touring is dusty, the same fitment exists as PM204P14, a 14 µm medium flowing 1,800 l/m²/sec: more retention, less flow, a trade rather than a ranking.

Care and cleaning

Service each element with compressed air on the clean side, driving the dirt back out through the face it entered. When air alone is not enough, warm water and a mild dish soap will do it, then a thorough rinse. Keep every heat source away — hairdryers, exhausts, flames — and never fit an element that is still damp. Done that way, PM204S is inspected rather than reordered. Fitment & Compatibility

PM204S is listed for the Honda NT1100 from 2022 to 2026 and for the CRF1100L Africa Twin and Adventure Sports from 2020 to 2026 — two machines covered by one reference, both twin-airbox designs. The same element serves both sides, so nothing has to be kept apart. Check your year against the compatibility list, and order for the count the bike requires: two elements, one per airbox.
