The Same Money, a Different Decision

Spark charges exactly the same for this slip-on as for the homologated Konix Evo GKT0113TOM. That makes the choice unusually clean: it is not about budget, it is about whether the motorcycle has to be legal.

If it does, the Konix Evo does everything this one does with a Euro5 certificate attached. If it does not — a track bike, a bike used where nobody checks, a second silencer kept for closed days — this is the freer of the two and the louder.

What a Titanium Grid Is

The Grid-O takes its name from the perforated titanium grid at the outlet, and it is the visual signature of Spark's racing silencers. Behind it sits a case built entirely in titanium with its TIG welds left unground.

It is the same design language Spark uses on the silencers it supplies to World Superbike and Moto2 teams. On a Super Duke, mounted in the standard lateral position where it sits at eye level beside the swingarm, that construction is very much on show.

Where It Can and Cannot Go

Spark's wording leaves no room: this proposal is not street legal. That is a manufacturer declining to sell a certificate rather than a shop being cautious, and it should be read at face value before ordering.

What it does keep is the standard mounting position and the passenger footrests — unlike the under-seat kits, which give both up. So a Super Duke with this silencer is still a two-seat motorcycle, just not a registered one.

What Not Street Legal Means in Practice

No EC certificate means no operating permit for public roads, and in Germany that is a matter for the registration document rather than for the exhaust's noise level. A quieter reading does not create an approval, and a dB killer does not either.

Spark does offer one for this case — the universal Grid-O insert G9989, 35 mm diameter and 100 mm long. It brings the level down for a circuit with a published limit. It does not change what the paperwork says.

A Second Silencer for the Van

Because this slip-on uses the standard lateral mounting, swapping between it and a homologated silencer is a job of minutes with the same fasteners. That makes it a realistic second silencer rather than a permanent commitment.

Ride to the circuit on the approved case, change to this one in the paddock, change back before leaving. It is the arrangement a lot of Super Duke owners actually want, and the shared mounting is what makes it practical.
