DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every Öhlins part number covers one machine. FFX 2201 covers the GasGas MC 450F (2021–2025). A fork that dives unevenly under braking makes the MC 450F feel vague long before grip runs out.
Key Features
- Spring rate 4,7 N/mm, set against this machine's weight
- Damper stroke 297 mm
- Supplied with Öhlins spring 02428-47
- Listed by Öhlins for the GasGas MC 450F (2021–2025) and no other machine
The RXF 48 S in Detail
The RXF 48 is Öhlins' motocross and enduro fork, and the S version adds the spring conversion — a coil spring in place of the air system many current forks use. Öhlins builds the fork with 48 mm tubes, which is the diameter current motocross chassis are designed around. The assembly drops into the standard triple clamps on the models it is listed for.
How the Fork Works
Eye-to-eye length is 950 mm, fixed for this application. Damping was developed with 1330 in the unit. The damper moves 297 mm from full extension to full compression. The spring carries Öhlins number 02428-47 and can be exchanged for a different rate without replacing the damper. Settings are marked in clicks from fully closed, so they can be recorded. Preload is adjusted separately from damping, and the two should not be confused.
What This Means on the MC 450F
A motocross track punishes suspension in a way nothing else does: repeated identical hits at the same speed, lap after lap. This part number spans model years 2021 to 2025; earlier and later generations take different numbers.
Construction and Material Quality
Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against. The unit is rebuildable: seals, shims and oil are catalogue items, not a reason to buy a new one. Öhlins manufactures in Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm, and assembles and tests every unit there before it ships.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins releases FFX 2201 against the GasGas MC 450F (2021–2025). The number is shared with 33 sibling models that use the same mounting and settings, and this listing covers the GasGas MC 450F. Öhlins notes for this application: 08765- spring series *Replaces FFX 1201*
Road Approval
