DescriptionThe whole story▼

Not every rider who wants a lighter triple clamp on a Yamaha YZF-R6, built from 2006, is ready to give up the stock ignition switch, and Melotti Racing built its Road Top Yoke specifically for that rider. It carries the same weight saving and the same vernier scale on its clip-on clamps as the company's GP version, but keeps the one detail that version drops: the factory key-switch mount.

Key Features

  • Road top yoke for the Yamaha YZF-R6, 2006 to 2020
  • Melotti part PS.YA.206S, available in black or natural
  • Weight cut from the stock 526 g to 478 g
  • Stock fork-leg spacing and steering-head offset kept unchanged
  • Through-pockets for progressive torsional flex, aiding turn-in
  • Two ribs added to keep rigidity despite the lighter build
  • Vernier scale on the clip-on clamps for a repeatable riding position
  • Accepts the stock ignition switch, unlike Melotti's GP version

Construction and Material Quality

Melotti brings this Road Top Yoke down from the YZF-R6's stock 526 g to 478 g using the same approach as its GP counterpart: through-pockets that give the clamp a progressive torsional response rather than raw stiffness, and two ribs added specifically to hold that balance while the weight comes down. Fork-leg spacing and steering-head offset stay exactly as Yamaha built them. The finish is black anodised, with stainless Pro-Bolt screws, the fastener supplier used by most MotoGP and SBK teams, and the same vernier scale sits on the front of the clip-on clamps for repeating a chosen bar angle after the clamps have been off the bike.

Built to Keep the Key in the Ignition

Plenty of YZF-R6 owners ride a mix of trackdays and road miles on the same bike, or simply want to be able to lock the steering in a paddock without an aftermarket workaround, and for them a top yoke that will not take the factory ignition switch is a real downside, not a minor detail. Melotti built this Road version precisely to remove that trade-off: the weight saving, the torsional tuning and the vernier scale all carry over from the GP yoke unchanged, but the stock switch slots back in where it always did. Riders who do not need the switch and want the lightest possible setup can look at Melotti's GP version of the same yoke instead.

Fitment and Compatibility

Melotti lists the PS.YA.206S for the Yamaha YZF-R6 from 2006 to 2020, matching our listing exactly. It is sold in black or natural anodised finish and pairs naturally with the AIS valve cover set and switch-and-support fitting Melotti offers for the Road yoke on the same YZF-R6. Confirm your ignition switch type before ordering if you plan to reuse the factory part.

Road Approval

No ABE exists for the PS.YA.206S. Even though it retains the stock ignition switch, it is supplied for racetrack and closed-circuit use, and fitting it is treated as a competition modification.
