DescriptionThe whole story▼
Built to the exacting standards that define Bonamici Racing's Italian motorsport heritage, the SM51A race handlebar brings a certified-safe, precision-engineered upgrade to the Aprilia RS 660. Machined from solid Ergal 70/75 billet aluminium with two dedicated mounting points and an integrated anti-slip safety system, this handlebar places structural integrity and rider protection at the heart of its design — without compromising a single degree of performance geometry.
Key Features
- Anti-slip safety system and dual fork-mounting points provide a mechanically secure, play-free installation that meets the demands of aggressive road and track riding.
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 70/75 billet — one of the highest-strength aluminium alloys available — delivering exceptional rigidity and a low unsprung mass.
- 15 mm rise combined with a 6.5° downward sweep repositions the rider into a committed, sport-forward stance for sharper steering feel and reduced fatigue on longer runs.
- Precision fitment engineered exclusively for the Aprilia RS 660 (2020-2026), ensuring a direct, hassle-free bolt-on installation with no modification required.
- 100% Made in Italy — every component produced in-house by Bonamici Racing to the same tolerances used in top-level circuit competition.
Construction and Safety
The SM51A is solid-machined from Ergal 70/75, a high-grade aluminium alloy selected for its outstanding strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to fatigue under cyclic load. Rather than relying on a cast or welded construction, Bonamici cuts the handlebar directly from billet stock — eliminating internal voids and grain inconsistencies that can compromise structural integrity over time. The result is a handlebar that withstands the stresses of hard braking, kerb impacts and sustained high-speed vibration without flex or deformation.
Two dedicated mounting points at the forks and two at the handlebar bar-end zones work in concert with the anti-slip safety system to lock the bar firmly in place under load. This four-point retention philosophy is drawn directly from Bonamici's racing programme, where handlebar movement under braking is simply not an option.
Geometry and Rider Benefit
The 15 mm rise and 6.5° downward sweep are carefully chosen values, not arbitrary styling cues. The rise brings the bar closer to the rider on a stock RS 660, reducing reach and taking pressure off the wrists and shoulders on extended road sessions. The downward sweep simultaneously angles the grip inward and forward, mirroring the natural line of the forearm and wrist so throttle inputs and braking forces travel through the joint rather than against it. Together these angles sharpen the steering response characteristic of the RS 660's chassis while maintaining enough comfort for a full day in the saddle.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Bonamici Racing SM51A handlebar is designed and manufactured specifically for the following model:
- Aprilia RS 660 — model years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026
No adapter plates or aftermarket spacers are required. Installation uses the original mounting architecture of the RS 660 fork tops, and all existing controls, throttle bodies and brake lines retain their stock routing.
