DescriptionThe whole story▼

For the Yamaha R6 from 2017 onwards, Accossato lists rear pad AGPP39, and offers it only in the Sintered (ST) compound. That covers the R6 from 2017 to 2026 and, according to Accossato's catalogue, the R6 Quick Change version from 2017 to 2024. The ST compound suits a rear brake that often works cold and is asked for small, precise inputs, whether on the road or on a circuit.

Key Features

  • Rear pad AGPP39 in the Sintered (ST) compound
  • For the Yamaha R6 2017-2026, including the Quick Change version 2017-2024
  • Accossato: high, constant grip hot or cold, good wet grip
  • Consistent response for light rear inputs
  • Works from cold
  • Two pads, full rear set
  • ST is the only compound listed for AGPP39

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato says its Sintered compound holds a high, steady grip across temperatures and grips well in the wet. On the rear of a modern R6, where the brake is used sparingly and is often cold, that consistency is useful. Accossato's general claims of long life, less fade and strong stopping apply as manufacturer statements.

The Pedal on a Modern R6

On a modern R6, the rear brake is used to settle the chassis before corner entry and to control speed in tight turns. These inputs need a predictable, even bite. The ST compound is designed to give that from the first touch, hot or cold. In rain, a smooth rear input helps keep the bike stable. Track riders sometimes use a touch of rear brake to hold a tighter line on the exit of slow corners, and road riders use it to scrub off a little speed without pitching the bike forward. Neither technique works with a pad that grabs suddenly. Since AGPP39 is only made in ST, there is no compound decision to make, just a question of fitting it carefully.

Maintenance

Clean the caliper when changing pads, press the piston back gently and pump the pedal until firm before riding.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPP39 for the YZF 600 R6 from 2017 to 2026 and the YZF 600 R6 Quick Change from 2017 to 2024. Earlier R6 models from 2003 to 2016 use AGPP88. The rear has one caliper, so one box is a full set. At the front, Accossato lists AGPA97.

Road Approval

There is no ABE for AGPP39ST and no test documents with us. It is offered for track and competition riding.

Scope of Delivery

Two Sintered (ST) rear pads, AGPP39, a full set for the rear caliper of the R6.
