DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Accossato 16x16 is the softer-feeling sibling of the clutch range: the same 16 mm piston as the 16x18, but matched to a shorter 16 mm pivot distance that Accossato describes as the softest version available. A shorter pivot lets the rider apply less force at the lever for a given amount of clutch movement, at the cost of a slightly longer stroke, which suits riders who prefer an easy pull in traffic over the sharpest possible bite. The Revolution lever reach adjusts via the supplied insert, the body is black anodised, and the lever is offered in a choice of colours.

Key Features

  • 16 mm piston diameter for a progressive, well modulated clutch release
  • 16 mm fixed lever pivot distance, the softest setting in the range, with a slightly longer stroke
  • Revolution-type lever with reach adjustment by inserting or removing the supplied insert
  • Lever supplied in a choice of colours, matched by an adjusting knob in the same shade
  • CNC-machined aluminium body with a black anodised finish
  • Offset riser that reduces deflection of the master cylinder during gear changes
  • Passive lever stroke shortened by more than 50 percent against a standard radial unit
  • Stainless steel mounting screws, zinced bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals

Construction and Material Quality

As with the rest of the clutch range, the 16x16 is forged and CNC machined from aluminium, then finished in black anodising, fully assembled in Italy. Stainless steel screws secure the unit, the bleed valve is zinced steel, and the seals are made from Formula 1 compound to cope with heat cycling and continued fluid contact. An offset riser in the mounting clamp limits how far the body deflects while the gearbox is being used hard, and the bore and internal passages are shaped to keep the passive stroke well under half of what a standard radial master cylinder of this size would produce. Hose fitting uses the M10x1 thread common to the whole Accossato radial range.

The Softer Feel of the 16 mm Pivot Distance

Where the 16x18 offers a balanced setting for track and street, the 16x16 trades some of that directness for ease at the lever. Accossato describes the 16 mm pivot distance as the softest version in the clutch range, meaning less physical force is needed to pull the lever through its travel, though the stroke itself runs slightly longer before the clutch fully disengages. The 16 mm piston diameter stays unchanged from the 18 mm pivot version, so the amount of fluid being moved is the same; what changes is purely the mechanical leverage at the lever pivot, which is why riders who spend most of their time in traffic or on long rides often prefer this softer setting over a shorter, firmer pivot.

Fitment and Compatibility

The same spread of 51 motorcycles confirmed for the 16x18 clutch version applies here, across BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki ranges, among them the BMW R1200GS Adventure (2013-2018), Ducati Scrambler 400 (2016-2016), Honda CB1100RS (2017-2017), Kawasaki Z650 (2017-2022) and Suzuki DL650 V-Strom (2012-2020). The full year-by-year breakdown sits in the Fitment tab on this page; confirm your own registration against it before ordering.

Road Approval

This clutch master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The package includes the Accossato 16x16 radial clutch master cylinder fitted with the Revolution lever and its reach-adjustment insert, in the lever colour selected, together with the matching mounting nut. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinced bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The brake light switch, available separately as ID001 or ID002, and the fluid reservoir are not included and must be purchased separately.
