DescriptionThe whole story▼

For riders in northern Italy, the islands are close enough for a long weekend: a ferry from Genoa or Livorno, and the roads of Sardinia or Corsica are waiting. Getting on board, however, is slow work. There is a long queue at the port, then a crawl up a steel ramp and across a slippery car deck, all of it at walking pace and all of it on the clutch. On a Panigale 1199 S, the clutch is operated hydraulically, with a small reservoir on the left handlebar. Accossato's FP007 is an aluminium cover for that reservoir, in six colours.

Key Features

  • Clutch master cylinder cover for the Ducati Panigale 1199 S
  • Listed for 2012 to 2015, ABS version and Tricolore included
  • Designed for the original clutch master cylinder
  • Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment and anodised
  • Six colours: blue, black, orange, red, silver, gold
  • Can be matched with the FP004 oil filler cap
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the FP007 from aluminium and anodises it in one of six colours: blue, black, orange, red, silver or gold. It is designed around the clutch master cylinder that Ducati fitted, so on the 1199 S it replaces only the reservoir cover and leaves the hydraulic system as it was. Use the change as a chance to look at what the old cover was protecting. The seal or diaphragm underneath should be supple and undamaged; if it has hardened or split, fit a new one before the aluminium cover goes on.

Walking Pace to the Car Deck

Port queues move in fits and starts: engine on, a few metres forward, engine off again. When loading finally begins, the bikes are waved on in a line, up the ramp and across the deck to their places by the wall. Every bit of it is clutch work, lever in, a little slip, lever out, a touch of brake. A Panigale 1199 S with a tired hydraulic system makes this tiring and imprecise, so give the clutch some attention at home before the trip. Turn the bars until the reservoir on the left sits level, cover the tank and the instruments with a cloth, and keep water nearby for any drop that lands on paint. Look at the fluid: it should lie between the marks and look clear rather than dark. The fluid draws moisture from the air, which is why the reservoir should be open only briefly, and why the owner's manual sets an interval for renewing it; a new cover does not replace that change. Fit the FP007, tighten the fixings gently and pull the lever several times with the engine off to confirm that the bite point is where you expect it. On the ramp, you will be glad you did.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives the FP007 for the Panigale 1199 S of 2012 to 2015, covering the ABS version and the Tricolore of 2012 and 2013 as well. It fits the original clutch master cylinder; if yours has been replaced by a different unit, compare it with the application list first. The same cover is listed at Inter-Pace for the Multistrada 1200, the Monster 1200 S and the Aprilia Caponord 1200. Accossato also makes the FP004 oil filler cap for the 1199 S, and every colour of the FP007 is available for it too.

Road Approval

The FP007 comes without German ABE or test documentation in our records; it is therefore listed for racing and competition use.
