DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a GSX-S1000 the handguards stop weather, not a lever being squeezed. Enter the ISS200RT: 132 mm guard length of GC-Tech polymer in front of the GSX-S1000 brake lever. There are 7 bush colours to pick from, listed under the technical data. It is listed by LighTech for the GSX-S1000 and sold individually.
Key Features
- Bar-end weights come off the GSX-S1000; nothing else does
- 110 g on the bar of the GSX-S1000
- LighTech logo and the Italian tricolour on the end section
- Sold individually — a GSX-S1000 needs one per side for full cover
- LighTech part number ISS200RT, catalogued for the Suzuki GSX-S1000
- The ISS200RT is a stock item, not a special order
What the Guard Prevents
The front brake is the only control that can be operated by something other than the rider. A guard works by being the furthest-forward part at the bar end of the GSX-S1000. The polymer deforms under impact and returns, where aluminium would stay bent.
Compatibility and Installation
Fitment is the Suzuki GSX-S1000 across 2015 to 2026. Check clearance to the GSX-S1000 fairing and mirror once fitted.
Fitting It to the Bike
The ISS200RT mounts at the bar end of the GSX-S1000; the controls stay where they are. Set the guard angle on the GSX-S1000 so it clears the fairing at full lock, then tighten. Mirrors and bar-end weights have to come off the GSX-S1000 first.
Scope of Delivery
One guard per box — the GSX-S1000 takes two for a matched pair. A matched pair on the GSX-S1000 means two guards and two adapters. Packaging carries the reference, so a second order for the GSX-S1000 is unambiguous.
Before You Order
At LighTech the guard and the adapter are two part numbers; on this page they are one choice. Every motorcycle takes the adapter matched to its own handlebar bore, and the GSX-S1000 is no exception. The matching adapter is KPL302; it is the preselected value of the “Adapter” option, because the guard alone is not a complete installation. Already running KPL302? Then “Without Adapter” is the value for you.
Road Approval and Regulations
Many organisers now check for a brake lever guard before a GSX-S1000 goes onto the circuit. LighTech supplies no road type approval with the ISS200RT and we make no approval claim. If the GSX-S1000 carries a plate, settle the question before fitting.
