Variable Valve Timing Arrives
Ducati introduced the Testastretta DVT on this motorcycle in 2015, adjusting both camshafts continuously. It is the reason a 160 horsepower engine could also idle politely through a village.
Plain Face
No maker's mark on the visible surface, for an owner who wants the improvement without the announcement.
A Hundred and Sixty Horsepower
In an adventure bike, which was an unusual figure in 2015 and remains high now. Ducati has never accepted that a touring motorcycle should be slow.
Throttle Assembly Only
The switch block remains in place. This part covers the housing, which is what most owners actually want when the electrics are healthy.
Long Days at the Grip
Touring means holding an opening for hours rather than moving constantly. A bore that has stayed true keeps that position stable and the wrist considerably fresher.
Black Anodising
Converted into the metal. Adventure bikes meet salt, rain and gravel, and none of them treats a coated surface with any respect at all.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a tall, heavy motorcycle that eventually topples, the material is chosen for that.
Four Modes, Genuinely Different
Enduro drops the engine to 100 horsepower and reconfigures the ABS entirely. It is a different motorcycle in that setting rather than a softened version of the same one.
The Commercially Important One
The Multistrada has been Ducati's most significant model by volume for years. Everything the company learns about touring electronics appears here first.
Twenty Litres and a Bigger Screen
Ducati made the 2015 bike more genuinely tourable than any Multistrada before it, with a tank that gives real range and a screen adjustable with one hand while moving. Those details decide whether an adventure bike gets used for adventures or for commuting, and this generation was the first where Ducati clearly cared about the answer.
