DescriptionThe whole story▼

The first time somebody rides pillion with you, they notice the stopping more than the accelerating. Each time the bike slows, a passenger who has not learned to brace slides gently into your back, so the smoother every stop is, the better the day goes. A loaded Benelli BN600 R also sends more work through the rear brake than a solo one ever does, and that is where Accossato's Sintered material on the AGPA42 plate earns its place. The article is listed for this model from 2012 to 2017.

Key Features

  • Rear pads for the Benelli BN600 R, 2012 to 2017, Accossato plate AGPA42
  • Sintered material for wet roads, luggage and riding two up
  • Accossato claims an even grip level cold or hot and reliable behaviour in the rain
  • Two pads per box, enough for one rear caliper
  • Listed two seasons earlier than the front article for the same machine
  • Two further materials are offered on this rear plate
  • Pads are renewed in pairs, never singly
  • No German ABE in our documents; competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The claim Accossato makes for the Sintered material is one of consistency: an even response whether the pads are cold at the first junction or hot at the foot of a long hill, and a wet surface that does not force a change of plan. At the back of a BN600 R, consistency shows up as feel through the boot. A rear brake that grabs when it is wet and slides past its work when it is cold teaches its owner not to use it at all, which is a shame on a machine where the pedal does useful work every time weight is carried.

With Somebody New on the Back

Two up changes how a BN600 R behaves before you have covered the length of the street. More weight sits over the rear wheel, the suspension settles lower, and the bike wants a greater distance in which to stop. What helps most is using the rear brake more than you would alone. A gentle pressure on the pedal at the start of every stop settles the machine on its springs so the front does not dip abruptly and your passenger is not pushed into your shoulders. It is also the pedal that keeps things dignified at walking pace, holding the bike steady while the person behind you climbs on or off.

A day out with a passenger tends to finish later and wetter than planned, which is the other half of the argument for this material. Look at the pads before the trip rather than after it, since the rear brake will do more in one loaded weekend than in a month of solo commuting. Inspect the rear disc while you are down there, looking for an even, clean face with no deep step at the edge, and keep the fluid fresh. A new set wants bedding in solo, on a quiet road, before somebody else trusts you with their weekend.

Fitment and Compatibility

The rear listing for the BN600 R, article AGPA42, covers the model years 2012 to 2017 and fills one caliper. Its counterpart at the front is the AGPA112, whose fitment does not open until 2014, and the DKS032 appears on the disc side for the same machine. Beside this material the rear plate is offered in an Organic version for gentle town use and in a ceramic race version for closed courses.

Road Approval

We hold no German ABE and no approval certificate for this rear set; it is offered for competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The box holds two sintered pads, the set for one rear caliper on the BN600 R.
