DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BMW R nineT Scrambler takes the air and oil-cooled boxer of the R nineT family into scrambler territory, with a relaxed riding position, wide bars and styling that looks at home on a gravel track. Owners like to use it that way too, on private dirt tracks and at flat-track style events on closed courses, and dust is part of the deal. Accossato's FC103, a quick-release fuel tank cap for the Scrambler of 2015 to 2024, is machined from aluminium and has a pawl in six colours.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the FC103 wholly from aluminium on CNC machines and describes it as robust and durable, with a new design. The R nineT Scrambler's tank is opened and closed via a quick-closing pawl, which keeps the filler exposed only briefly, a real advantage on a dusty day. The pawl comes in six colours. Since grit and knocks can damage it, Accossato sells it separately as a spare.
Dust Around the Filler
On a dry gravel day, dust gets into every corner of an R nineT Scrambler, and around a fuel filler it is more than a cosmetic problem. Fine grit that falls into the tank can end up in the fuel filter, and grit in a closing mechanism makes it stiff. The routine is simple. Before opening the FC103, wipe the cap and the tank around it with a damp cloth, working outwards so that dirt is pushed away from the filler rather than towards it. Open the pawl, fill through a clean funnel and close it again straight away. On a windy day, stand with your back to the wind so that you shield the opening. At the end of the day, brush the pawl area with a soft brush, wipe it with a damp cloth and let it dry. A pawl that no longer closes cleanly after a dusty season can be replaced on its own.
Fitment and Compatibility
Under R 1200 NINE T SCRAMBLER, Accossato gives the years 2015 to 2024 for this cap. We also list it for the R nineT and for the R1200GS, another boxer that is often ridden away from tarmac. Please compare your bike with the application list before you order.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate on file for the FC103; it is meant for the track and closed ground. The R nineT Scrambler's original cap normally locks with the ignition key and remains the one for public roads.
