Öhlins machines its housings from solid rather than casting them, which keeps the bores true.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Dimension A 14.5 mm

Dimension B 20 mm

Öhlins part number 05688-09

What It Is

At 14.5 mm, 20 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Reservoir housings hold the gas charge and are pressure-rated accordingly. Clamps have a specified torque; over-tightening distorts the bore they hold. A housing carries adjusters and their seals, so its bores matter as much as its outside.

Original Öhlins Part

Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. The part number is the contract: it defines material, dimension and finish together. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.

Identifying the Right Part

If the unit is already open, compare the dimensions below with the part in your hand before ordering 05688-09. Öhlins states dimension a 14.5 mm, dimension b 20 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. A cracked bracket is a safety matter, not a cosmetic one. Housing threads carry the adjusters and are the part that suffers if the adjuster is forced.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05688-09

Category: Top Mounts

Dimension A: 14.5 mm

Dimension B: 20 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05688-09_f326b54b-3c67-40f1-9460-2dd8f88f6652.png?v=1788877029
