The JP ES 026 closes the V-Strom 1000's sidestand circuit so it runs with the stand gone.

A TL-Derived Twin
The 1037 cc engine descends from the TL1000 and carries a good deal of its character. Detuned for an adventure bike it became one of the more durable large twins.
Built for Tarmac
Suzuki aimed the V-Strom 1000 at riders covering long distances on roads rather than at anybody serious about gravel. It does that job well and without fuss.
When the Stand Comes Off
Usually after damage, occasionally during a rally conversion. Either way the switch is mounted on the bracket and leaves with the assembly.
An Open Circuit
The ECU cannot distinguish that from a deployed stand and cuts the engine in gear. On a loaded touring bike that is a genuine problem.
Supplying the State
The eliminator closes the loop as the controller expects. Nothing is bridged and nothing is stored for a later reader to find.
Eighteen Model Years
The fitment covers 2002 to 2019, so both generations, before the 1050 replaced the model. The sidestand wiring is consistent throughout.
Original Connector
Nothing spliced. Far from a workshop, an installation with no cut wires in it is the one that keeps working.
A Hundred Horsepower
With torque available from very low down. The V-Strom 1000 was never fast and it is remarkably easy to ride quickly on a difficult road.
Weigh It First
If the stand is still fitted and the bike is registered, leave the interlock connected. There is no benefit to removing it.
A Short Second Life
The 2014 V-Strom 1000 replaced a model that had been on sale since 2002 and lasted only six years itself. Suzuki then rebodied it as the 1050, which suggests the underlying motorcycle was never the part that needed fixing.
