DescriptionThe whole story▼
For 2022 Kawasaki gave the Versys 650 a thorough update, and the middleweight all-rounder stayed what it had always been: a bike as happy on the way to work as on a winding road in the hills. Owners who take one to a circuit for the first time soon discover that a race track has rules of its own, and several of them concern fuel. Accossato lists the FC126 for the Versys 650 of 2022 to 2024, under the name KLE 650 Versys. It is a quick-release fuel tank cap milled from aluminium, and the pin on its pawl comes in six colours.
Key Features
- Fuel tank cap with quick release for the Kawasaki Versys 650, 2022 to 2024
- Accossato entry: KLE 650 Versys, 2022 to 2024
- CNC-machined aluminium throughout
- Robust and long-lasting in Accossato's description; new design
- Quick-closing pawl, pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl can be ordered separately
- No German ABE on file; circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC126 is made wholly of aluminium, cut on CNC machines, and Accossato describes it as robust and long-lasting, with a design that is new. The quick-closing pawl is the part your fingers work: it releases the cap so the tank of the Versys 650 opens quickly, and it closes the cap again just as fast. Its pin carries the colour, chosen when you order from six options. Accossato sells the pawl as a separate spare, so damage to it can be put right without buying a whole new cap.
Where Refuelling Is Allowed
Every circuit and every organiser publishes rules for the paddock, and fuel handling is usually among them. At many venues refuelling is not permitted in the pit lane, and some do not want it inside the pit garages either, only in the open paddock or in a marked area. Some ask for an absorbent mat under the bike, others want an extinguisher at every garage. Read these rules before the day rather than at the gate, because they decide how you set up your space. With the Versys 650, plan to refuel in the paddock with the engine off, the bike on a stand and the can on the ground beside it. Keep the refuelling spot clear of generators, of heaters and of anyone cooking lunch. If an official asks you to move, do so without argument: the rules exist because a fire in a crowded paddock would affect everyone, not just the rider who caused it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the KLE 650 Versys of 2022 to 2024 for the FC126, which is the Versys 650 in its updated form. Earlier years of the Versys 650 are listed by Accossato under other part numbers, so the model year matters here. At Inter-Pace the FC126 is also listed for the Ninja 650 and the Versys 1000. Check your bike against the list before you order.
Road Approval
Neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate is on record for the FC126, which is why we offer it for circuit use. The Versys 650's standard cap usually needs the ignition key, and it is the one to have on the tank on public roads.
