DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 959 Panigale arrived for 2016 as the middle member of the twin-cylinder Panigale family and soon became a common sight in track-day paddocks, where its size and manners suit riders who are still learning as well as those chasing lap times. Paddocks have rules, and at many circuits one of them concerns what drips onto the ground. For the 959 Panigale of 2016 to 2019, the Corse included, Accossato lists the FC135, a quick-release fuel tank cap made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium, with a pawl whose pin you choose from six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Panigale 959, 2016 to 2019
- Also listed for the 959 Panigale Corse of 2018 and 2019
- Machined from aluminium on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl for fast refuelling
- Pin in six colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Replacement pawl sold separately
- No German ABE; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC135 is machined on CNC equipment and made entirely of aluminium; Accossato calls it robust and durable, and its styling is new. What speeds up refuelling is the quick-closing pawl, which frees the cap and secures it again without delay. Colour enters through the pin on that pawl, available in six options, while the body of the cap is not described as coloured. A pawl damaged when the 959 Panigale tips over in the paddock can be replaced by itself, because Accossato sells it separately.
A Mat Under the Bike
Many circuits and race organisers ask riders to put an absorbent environmental mat under the bike wherever they work on it in the paddock, and some of them check. The idea is simple: oil, brake fluid and fuel should end up in the mat rather than in the ground. Refuelling is one of the most likely moments for a spill, so do it over the mat as well. Push the 959 Panigale onto its stands with the mat underneath, switch off, and put the fuel can on the mat too, not on the tarmac beside it. Open the pawl, pour through a funnel, stop before the neck is full and close the cap. A few drops on the mat are harmless; a puddle on the tarmac is not. Cloths that have soaked up fuel belong in a closed metal container, or should be left to dry in the open away from anything hot, rather than being stuffed into a bag in the van. At the end of the day, a mat that has soaked up fuel is disposed of in the way the circuit asks.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FC135 for the 959 Panigale with ABS from 2016 to 2019 and names the Corse of 2018 and 2019 separately. The cap is catalogued with us for the 1299 Panigale S, the Diavel and the Streetfighter 848 as well. Please check your bike against the application list before ordering. When fitting, the engine should be cold and the bike parked; clean the filler, make sure the seal sits evenly, and check the rim for fuel after the first fill.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no expert report are documented, so the FC135 is a track part. The 959 Panigale's standard cap usually locks and is the right one for public roads, where this cap cannot simply take its place.
