If your registration document says M 1000 XR, ask us and we will check what Akrapovic offers for it rather than sell you something the paperwork does not cover.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWhere a Kilogram Goes on a 170 PS Bike\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe S 1000 XR is a sport-tourer built on the S 1000 RR engine — 170.9 PS in a chassis with luggage mounts and a long-travel suspension. The gains from an exhaust on an engine like that are always going to be small, and 0.8 PS is honestly what was measured.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe kilogram is the real change, and it comes off the highest, furthest-back point on a tall motorcycle. The heat shield being part of the system rather than an accessory matters here too: an XR carries a passenger and soft luggage over a hot carbon body.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWhy Carbon and Not Titanium Here\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTitanium is Akrapovic's usual answer, and on this motorcycle it was the wrong one. The standard S 1000 XR silencer is already a light, compact unit — 2.31 kg — so a titanium sleeve would have saved a few hundred grams.
