Construction and Material Quality
The S001 shares its construction with the pads ZCOO supplies to endurance teams. On a 69.5 by 50.5 mm face the backing plate decides whether the pad wears evenly or takes on a taper. The effect is a S001 that presents the same geometry to the disc near the wear limit as it did new.
Performance and Feel
On a YZF - R7 700 the second half of a session is where EX Race earns its price. The compound lays a thin ceramic film on the rotor as it beds, which is why the Yamaha YZF - R7 700 sees far less disc wear than a conventional sinter would cause. A YZF - R7 700 rider sets a braking marker once; the S001 is what lets them keep it.

Road Approval
No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
