Why Both Go Together
Ducati puts the switches inside the throttle housing, so the failure of one contact retires the whole assembly. Replacing it in machined aluminium is the version of that job worth doing once.
Paint, Not Vinyl
The RVE's graffiti scheme is applied through a multi-stage painting process rather than as a wrap. It costs more to produce and it is still intact on bikes that have covered serious mileage.
A Shifter That Gets Used
The RVE includes the bidirectional quickshifter. On a supermoto with this much torque it is worked at every junction rather than reserved for a circuit, which is a great many operations a year.
Dust, Then Water
Supermotos collect grit before they collect rain, and grit does not evaporate out of a joint again. Enclosed elements inside a solid body give it nowhere at all to settle.
The Throttle Is the Control
Nothing else on this motorcycle is worked as hard or as often. A bore that was cut rather than formed keeps that movement precise across years of it.
A Surface That Takes Scuffs
Anodising is grown into the aluminium, so a kerb dulls the finish at the contact point instead of lifting a coating that then keeps peeling from the edge.
Ergal, for the Fall
The 7075 grade is roughly twice as strong as ordinary machined aluminium. On a bike that goes over as part of normal use, that is the entire reason for specifying it.
Extended, Not Limited
The RVE began as a limited proposition and Ducati kept building it because demand did not stop. It is now the version most people picture when they think of a 950.
The Harness Untouched
Ducati's own plug terminates the loom. Nothing is cut, so the motorcycle can go back to standard specification without a trace.
