The Mark
JetPrime cuts its name into the anodised face on this version. It is otherwise the same body as the plain one, and the choice between them is entirely personal.
A Redesign, Not a Facelift
The 2014 Monster was a new motorcycle, with a new frame, a new tank and a liquid-cooled engine. Ducati kept the silhouette and changed nearly everything underneath it.
An Adjustable Subframe
Ducati made the seat height and the tail configuration changeable, so the same bike could suit riders of very different sizes. It is a rare piece of accommodation from this company.
Housing Only
The switch block is unaffected. This part replaces the throttle assembly, which is the appropriate purchase when the switchgear is sound.
Where the Tube Turns
A machined bore keeps the rotation clean for years. On a motorcycle used daily rather than occasionally, that is what an owner notices first.
Black Anodised
Converted into the metal. A Monster's bar is completely exposed and unusually visible, and an engraved anodised surface handles that better than any printed one.
Ergal 7075
An aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined alloy. On a naked bike parked in cities, the low-speed drop is a question of when rather than whether.
A Dashboard Worth Having
Ducati fitted a full colour display with riding modes and traction levels visible at a glance. In 2014 that was well ahead of what most nakeds carried.
Cut, Not Applied
The mark goes into the anodised layer rather than onto it. Ten years of gloves leave it exactly as it was, which is more than can be said for the printed legend on any factory component.
