Concept to Showroom Intact
MV showed the Superveloce as a concept and built it almost exactly as drawn, which is rare enough to be remarkable. The round headlight, the single seat hump and the tank profile all survived the transition to a homologated production motorcycle.
An F3 Underneath
Nothing was softened for the retro treatment. The chassis, the counter-rotating crankshaft and the 798 cc triple are the F3's, which means the Superveloce is genuinely quick rather than a styling exercise with a fast-looking tank.
Aligned Clamp Bolts
This drilling covers master cylinders whose clamp bolts sit on a line square to the handlebar. The offset version exists for the stepped arrangement, and establishing which the bike has takes a moment.
A Sparse Cockpit by Design
A single round instrument, minimal switchgear and clip-ons. Into that carefully composed arrangement the standard moulded housing is the component that most obviously belongs to the present day rather than to the era being referenced.
Machined Reads as Period
Controls on the motorcycles the Superveloce quotes were cut and finished from metal. An anodised aluminium body milled from solid does not pretend to be a period part, and it sits far better among brushed and painted surfaces than plastic does.
Sealed Elements
Contacts sealed inside a one-piece body. These motorcycles are ridden rather than displayed in Europe, and the absence of a moulded joint is what keeps water away from the contacts over several seasons.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the surface. On a motorcycle whose entire proposition is a carefully composed appearance, a cockpit component that stays quiet is clearly the right decision.
