Two Model Years
Ducati built the 939 Hyperstrada briefly and then dropped the model entirely. Nothing in the current range does what it did, which is why the survivors move so quickly when they appear.
Cornering ABS as Standard
The 939 generation gained a Bosch inertial platform with lean-sensitive braking. On a touring bike meeting unfamiliar roads that is worth far more than it is on a circuit machine.
Sixteen Litres
A considerably larger tank than the Hypermotard's. On a motorcycle built for journeys that is the difference between stopping every hour and stopping twice a day.
Universal Slots
The clamp pattern fits both the original master cylinder and the radial units. One part number rather than a decision at the checkout.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, red and titanium, converted into the surface layer of the metal. Nothing sits on top to lift after a few seasons of gloves and weather.
Sealed Contacts
Enclosed within the machined body. Salt and grit are what an all-weather motorcycle actually meets and no moulded seam keeps either out for long.
Softer, Not Soft
The suspension is set up for comfort and load rather than for supermoto abuse. Underneath the screen and the bags it still steers like a Hypermotard, which is most of the reason to want one.
Factory Plug
Pre-wired to Ducati's connector, so nothing is cut. The change is mechanical and takes about a quarter of an hour.
An Idea With No Successor
Nobody else built a touring supermoto and Ducati did it twice before giving up. The concept never sold in volume and the owners who found it tend to be evangelical about it, which is usually what happens to motorcycles that were slightly ahead of their market.
