A Riding School Standard

Renamed the Z650
Kawasaki changed the name in 2017 with a redesign, and the Z650 that followed is a considerably lighter motorcycle built on the same idea.
Where the Switch Lives
Bolted to the stand bracket, low on the left, directly in the spray from the front wheel and within reach of every pressure lance ever aimed at a swingarm.
Five Minutes
One connector near the swingarm pivot, reached without removing bodywork. It is the shortest job on any preparation list and the one that unlocks the rest of the evening.
A Fault With a Season
It appears in the wet, in winter or after a wash, and vanishes in a dry workshop. Anything intermittent that correlates with water is worth tracing to a connector before any part is replaced, and this is the most exposed connector on the motorcycle.
Buy It Before You Need It
The part costs little and takes no space, and riders heading somewhere remote frequently carry one against the possibility rather than waiting for the switch to fail inconveniently.
Track Preparation
Lights, mirrors, plate and stand come off in the first evening, and the eliminator goes on immediately afterwards so the rest of the work can be tested.
The Interlock Is Not Optional Equipment
It is part of the motorcycle's approval and part of what a buyer expects to work. Disabling it on a machine that still has a stand is a decision with consequences and should be made deliberately.
