Bought to Be Ridden Hard
The RF's Öhlins suspension and forged wheels were specified for circuit use rather than showroom appeal. A race-layout control block is a coherent next step on a motorcycle already set up in that direction.
The Column Reordered
Street and race blocks carry the same functions in a different sequence. The blue button drops to the bottom, which is where a gloved thumb arrives without a conscious decision when the bike is being braked hard.
Variable Trumpets, Fixed Purpose
The V4's intake tract shortens as revs climb, which fills the midrange without costing the top end. On a circuit that shows up as drive out of a slow corner rather than as a number on a dyno sheet.
The Earlier Layout
Model years up to 2016 take this part number. The 2017 revision brought a different left-hand assembly, and the two are not interchangeable regardless of which badge is on the tail unit.
Four Finishes
Black, blue, red and titanium. The Superpole livery is already busy, so black usually settles the cockpit down, while titanium picks up the fork tops without competing with the paint.
Cut From One Block
Ergal 7075 machined rather than moulded, with the elements sealed inside. There is no clipped cover to lose tension under the vibration a narrow-angle V4 puts through a set of clip-ons.
Numbered and Kept
RF machines were sold in defined batches with a plate on the yoke and they have held their value accordingly. Owners tend to keep them longer, which makes durable switchgear a reasonable investment rather than an indulgence.
The Original Plug
Pre-wired to Aprilia's connector. The block comes off with two fasteners, the new one goes on, and the dashboard behaves exactly as it did before.
