Seven Hundred and Ninety Millimetres

Torque and Patience
Nothing here is tight and nothing needs force. The fasteners holding the tank go into aluminium or plastic, and overtightening them is the commonest damage done.
What Happens With Nothing Fitted
The panel carries a warning from the next start and keeps it. The motorcycle runs perfectly, nothing else changes and the only consequence is a lamp that cannot be cleared and a code any reader will find.
Where the Time Actually Goes
Fifteen minutes to get the seat and tank off carefully, two minutes to swap the connector and fifteen to put everything back without trapping anything. The ratio is typical of work on a modern motorcycle and it is worth planning the evening around.
