The JP MJ 008 addresses the XJR1300's hesitation off a closed throttle, which is the transition every injection system finds hardest and every rider notices.

Air Cooled and Enormous
Yamaha's 1251 cc four is a design from another era kept in production because people kept buying it. Injection arrived very late in its life.
And With an Open Filter
More air on the intake side has the same effect from the other direction. The standard closed-loop correction handles part of it and runs out of authority for the rest, particularly at larger throttle openings.
What Changes at the Bottom
The first eighth of throttle travel is where a lean map shows itself, as a hesitation or a jerk when picking up drive. That transition is where a module earns its money on almost every motorcycle.
After a Silencer
The standard controller's closed-loop correction covers a narrow band and gives up outside it. A module extends the correction into the part of the map where a freer exhaust actually changes things.
What It Will Not Do
Raise a rev limit, alter ignition, change a rider aid or repair a worn sensor. Being clear about that is more useful than a longer list of what it does.
When Not to Bother
A current machine with the standard exhaust that the owner has no complaint about. Fitting a correction to a mixture that is already right achieves nothing worth the money.
Heat
Under a seat is warmer than most owners assume once an engine has been working. The module is built for it, but pressing it against a subframe rail that carries exhaust heat is still worth avoiding.
After a Service
Nothing about the module needs resetting when the motorcycle is serviced. Filters, plugs and oil changes have no interaction with it whatsoever.
