The 270 Degree Twin
Yamaha's 689 cc parallel twin uses an uneven firing interval to give it a vee-twin feel. It is the most widely sold engine the marque makes.
What It Cannot Fix
A worn throttle position sensor, a leaking inlet rubber, a clogged filter or a sticking valve. A module corrects fuel quantity and nothing else. Fitting one to hide a mechanical fault postpones the diagnosis rather than avoiding it.
On an Older Motorcycle
Early injection systems were mapped more coarsely than current ones and frequently ran leaner. A module tends to make a bigger difference on a machine from the two thousands than on one from last year.
Legal Position
Where fuelling forms part of the approval, changing it takes the machine outside its approved condition. That is a matter of local rules and it is worth knowing before rather than after.
Nothing to Configure Afterwards
There is no pairing procedure, no calibration ride and no reset. The motorcycle is started and the module is already doing what it does.
What Improves First
Pick-up from a closed throttle. Almost every owner mentions it before anything else, because it happens dozens of times on any ride and is the most irritating thing a lean map produces.
Riding Modes Still Work
On a ride-by-wire machine the rain and sport settings continue to shape the throttle exactly as before. The module operates downstream of all of that and cannot see which mode is selected.

Someone who has already fitted a silencer, notices the fuelling and does not want a project. That describes a great many riders and this is a product built for them.
