The JP ESR 006 presents the Panigale V4's controller with the solenoid resistance it expects, so the panel stays clear and nothing is written to the fault memory.

A Dry Clutch Option
Ducati offers one on the higher specifications, which is entirely unnecessary and exactly what a certain kind of owner wants. The noise alone justifies it for them.
The Fault That Follows
Unplug the solenoid and the controller reads an open circuit, stores a fault and lights the panel. The eliminator presents the resistance it was expecting instead.
Potted Body
The connector sits behind the front fairing where water finds its way in eventually. Everything electrical inside the eliminator is sealed as a unit rather than crimped.
Keep the Standard Unit
An electronic damper is expensive and worth considerably more complete than as a curiosity in a box. It is also what a careful buyer will ask about.
The Conversion
A conventional damper mounts on the same brackets on most models, which is why this is a common change on machines used mainly on circuits.
The Open Circuit
An unplugged solenoid is the clearest fault signal a controller can be given, which is why simply removing the damper always lights the panel.
What Happens Next
The controller finds nothing on the circuit, stores a fault and lights the panel. On some models it also flags the fault at every ignition cycle thereafter.
Fitting the Replacement
Most conventional dampers mount to the brackets the original used, which keeps the job to a swap rather than fabrication. Checking that before ordering is worth five minutes, because the models where it is not true are the ones that turn an afternoon into a project.
