CY20231 is the left flank of Carbonin's R9 race bodywork. It runs from the cowl above down to the belly pan, closes the side of the motorcycle over the triple, and carries the mounting for the CY20237 wing.

Keep the Standard Panels
The advice that saves owners money later is unglamorous: when the OEM flanks come off, wrap them and put them somewhere dry. A used R9 with its original bodywork intact is worth appreciably more than one sold as a converted race bike with a box of scratched race panels, and standard fairings are the single most expensive thing to buy back afterwards. That is true whether or not the bike ever goes back on the road.
Where the Heat Leaves
Air that has passed through the radiator has to go somewhere, and on a faired motorcycle it leaves sideways, through and around the flanks. That is why a race panel is not simply a smaller version of the standard one: the openings and the way the panel stands off the frame are part of how the cooling system breathes at low speed, in the pit lane and on the grid, when there is no ram effect helping. A bike that runs cool on track and climbs on temperature waiting to start is usually telling you something about its exit path rather than about its radiator.
Fit and Feel
Race panels sit differently from standard ones. There is less of them, they end where the frame ends rather than wrapping decoratively past it, and the rider's knee finds carbon where it used to find painted plastic. It is worth taking the first session to get used to that before pushing — the reference points a rider uses to place themselves on the bike genuinely move.
