DescriptionThe whole story▼
A 125cc four-stroke has enough pull for most trails, but not much in reserve, and nowhere is that clearer than when you have to set off halfway up a slope. On a Kawasaki KLX 125, a hill start off-road is a small exercise in coordination: rear brake on, revs up, clutch out to the friction point, brake off, all without rolling back or stalling. The C7127 is Accossato's folding clutch lever for the KLX 125 of 2010 to 2016, CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy, with a long blade for four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Kawasaki KLX 125, 2010 to 2016
- Takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Longer blade, four-finger layout
- Anti-break joint gives the blade a chance to fold forward in a fall
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black or green blade with a dark base
- No German ABE documented; off-road use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the C7127 out of solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy. The high-strength aluminium alloy was chosen with three goals in mind: strength, lightness and reliability. The finished lever is in two parts, a dark base that stays on the pivot at the clutch mount and a blade in black or green that is attached to it by a joint. That joint is the reason the blade can fold. Because the C7127 works the clutch, its blade is longer than the brake lever's, designed for four fingers.
Pulling Away on a Slope
The technique is the same whether the hill is a grassy bank or a stony track. Stop with the bike pointing straight up the slope, not across it, and hold it on the rear brake with your right foot while the left foot takes your weight on the ground. Select first, raise the revs a little more than you would on the flat, and let the clutch out until you feel the bike start to pull against the brake. Then release the brake, feed in the rest of the clutch and add throttle as the KLX 125 moves off. If the rear wheel spins, ease the throttle rather than pulling the clutch in.
Most people stall a few times before it works. The bike stops, starts to roll back, and the instinct is to grab the front brake and put a foot down, and on a slope the ground is further away than it looks. Many of those moments end with the KLX 125 lying on its left side, pointing uphill, the clutch lever against the ground. The C7127's joint lets the blade fold forward rather than taking the full weight at its tip, which gives it a good chance of coming through. Pick the bike up, reset, and try again from a slightly gentler part of the slope.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7127 is listed by Accossato for the Kawasaki KLX 125 built from 2010 to 2016 and replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mount. For the same years there is the B8145 folding brake lever; black and green are available on both.
Road Approval
The C7127 comes without a documented German ABE. On a road-registered KLX 125 it is therefore not approved for public roads and belongs on private off-road ground or in competition.
