The R was the Daytona for riders who had already decided that the standard suspension and brakes were not the argument, and owners of bikes like that get used to a catalogue in which every part is an upgrade on the one it replaces. An air filter is easy to read the same way, as the next line on the list. It is not that, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest: a drop-in element does not make a standard engine noticeably more powerful. What the Sprint Filter PM143S replaces is not really a component at all. It replaces a purchase you were going to keep making.
Key Features
- Never oiled, so there is nothing to wash out and nothing that can reach the sensor
- Threads of polyester from ø 22 microns, woven rather than pressed out of cellulose pulp
- The standard P08 medium for road and track use: 80 µm filtration, 5,050 l/m²/sec
- In the standard airbox, roughly double the filtering surface of other performance filters
- A direct replacement in that same airbox — nothing modified, nothing remapped, nothing to declare
- Washable, reusable, made to last the life of the motorcycle; two years of warranty from the date of purchase
A consumable turns into a fitted part
A cellulose element is built to be thrown away, and the schedule assumes it: it collects, its restriction climbs, and at some interval the whole thing goes in the bin and a new one is bought. The P08 is woven dry polyester. It is blown through with compressed air, washed when it needs more than that, and put back in the same airbox, and Sprint Filter design it to last the life of the motorcycle. The change is not to the engine. It is to the category the part belongs to — from something the motorcycle consumes to something it is fitted with.
What the R package touched, and what it did not
Everything the R badge paid for sits between the rider and the road: springs, damping, brakes and the confidence to lean on them. None of it went anywhere near the intake. The R breathes through the same airbox as the base Daytona, through the same opening, with the same element in it, which is why one part number covers both of them along with the two Street Triples that share the engine. On the intake side, an R owner and a base-model owner are looking at exactly the same decision, and it is a maintenance decision rather than a performance one.
Care and cleaning
Normal service returns the element to the restriction it started with, and it is nothing more than compressed air on the clean side, blown outwards. Water and a mild detergent handle what the air line will not shift; rinse until the water runs clear, then dry it fully in open air. Heat and flame are never used, and the element goes back dry — there is no oil to reapply. The Downloads tab carries the maintenance sheet for the PM143S.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Triumph Daytona 675 R, 2013–2018. The same PM143S element covers four machines built around this airbox — the Daytona 675 and the Daytona 675 R, the Street Triple 675 and the Street Triple 675 R. The full list with model years is in the Fitment tab.
