A Two-Year Model
The 1050 existed only in 2015 and 2016 before the 1090 replaced it. Parts specific to it were never plentiful and have not become more so, which makes a component that fits correctly worth taking when it appears.
Ninety-Five Horsepower
KTM detuned the LC8 twin to 1050 cc and 95 hp, partly to reach licence categories the 1190 could not. The engine remained the same characterful V-twin, simply with less of it, which suited a great many riders perfectly well.
Why Anyone Shortens the Throttle
With less power on tap the rider uses more of the throttle's range more often. Reducing the rotation required means less wrist movement across a day, which is a comfort argument as much as a performance one.
The Switch Block Goes With It
KTM integrates the right-hand controls into the throttle assembly. Once a quick tube is fitted they need a home, and this unit provides an independent bar clamp wired to the motorcycle's own connector.
Set Where the Hand Rests
Because the mounting is separate, its position is chosen rather than dictated. On a touring machine ridden for hours, having the switch where the thumb naturally falls is worth the effort of getting right.
Sealed Elements
Military-specification contacts inside a machined body. Adventure bikes are used in conditions that keep other motorcycles indoors, and the seals do the work a fairing would otherwise share.
Titanium
A single anodised finish, converted into the surface rather than applied over it. On a busy touring cockpit it stays out of the way while remaining clearly a deliberate component.
