DescriptionThe whole story▼

The M1000RR is BMW's homologation special, built for World Superbike with winglets, carbon parts and a stronger engine. The GP-Light 2 Race clip-on handlebars for the BMW M1000RR from 2020 are 55 mm clip-ons with a sportier geometry than the standard bars.

Key Features

  • 308 mm overall length, against 287 mm for the original bar (Gilles drawing)
  • 6-degree drop instead of the original 7.3 degrees
  • Compact clamp, 94 mm deep and 76 mm tall (Gilles drawing)
  • 55 mm clamps, black
  • TTG 101316 or TÜV 34TG0277; 2025 on: TTG 101316 only

A racing geometry

According to Gilles' drawing, the Race version is 308 mm long overall, against 287 mm for the original part, and drops at 6 degrees instead of 7.3. That puts the grips slightly further out and flatter, a position many racers prefer for braking and body movement.

Compact clamp

The clamp is 94 mm deep and 76 mm tall. It carries the type and version marking the approvals require, and the grips, switches and throttle move over from the original bars.

Road Approval

For the M1000RR, both Gilles approvals list the type SM99 (2020 to 2024); the marking on the clamps decides which applies. KBA 101316 on the clamps means the KBA part type approval: no inspection, carry the approval. Without that mark, TÜV parts certificate 34TG0277 applies: acceptance inspection straight after fitting, documents corrected later. The 2025 type SR99 appears only in the part type approval, so on a 2025 or later bike the clamps must carry the mark KBA 101316. Conditions in both documents: cables, Bowden cables and brake lines long enough and protected against kinking and chafing, master cylinder and reservoir in their working position, brake hoses with at least 80 mm bend radius and not twisted, free steering including lock and steering stop, and a check of the front brake.

Scope of Delivery

A left and a right clip-on with their tubes. Grips, bar-end weights and controls are reused from the motorcycle; the approval documents download from this page.
