DescriptionThe whole story▼

KTM's 250 EXC-F is a four-stroke enduro machine built for riders who want the smoother, more tractable delivery of a four-stroke over a two-stroke's harder hit, without stepping up to a bigger-engined bike. Accossato lists its DSM01 rear wheel spacers for the 250 EXC-F across 2003 to 2018, the pair of sleeves fitted either side of the rear hub that take up the gap between the hub and the swingarm or axle block.

Key Features

  • Rear wheel spacers for the KTM 250 EXC-F, 2003 to 2018
  • Accossato code DSM01, one spacer each side of the rear hub
  • Sold as a pair, left and right
  • Available in orange or silver
  • Same part also listed for the Husqvarna FC 450, the TE 300 and the TC 125
  • No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition riding

Construction and Material Quality

The DSM01 is listed for the 250 EXC-F by model and build years alone, with no material, weight or measurement stated for the spacer. Orange or silver only changes the finish; the spacer holds the wheel the same way either way. A spacer with a chip along its edge, or one that sits unevenly against the hub once refitted, should be set aside and replaced rather than forced to work for another ride.

A Wheel Change on a Multi-Day Event

Multi-day enduros often mean stripping a wheel down at the end of each stage, whether to fit a fresh tyre for the next day or simply to check the bearings and seals after hours on rough ground. Working on the bike at an overnight stop, often by headtorch with other jobs still waiting, is exactly the setting where a small part set down on a workbench or a groundsheet goes unnoticed when everything gets packed away for the night. Keeping the two spacers together in a small bag or pot that travels with the toolkit, rather than loose in a pocket that empties out during the day, means they are still there when the wheel goes back together the next morning.

Fitment and Compatibility

Across the whole 2003 to 2018 run, the 250 EXC-F sits on Accossato's list against the DSM01, in line with the years quoted here. That same list carries the part across to the Husqvarna FC 450, the TE 300 and the TC 125 as well. A buyer is still well served by lining up the exact year of their own 250 EXC-F against the list before placing an order.

Road Approval

No German ABE is on file for the DSM01, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use rather than road riding. Riders should check their own series' technical rules before fitting aftermarket spacers.
