DescriptionThe whole story▼
For 2021 Kawasaki gave the ZX-10R a new face, with winglets built into the sides of a completely redesigned fairing. The bike belongs to the family from which Kawasaki's World Superbike machines are derived, and many of its owners measure their year in track days. On a circuit, one particular flag is aimed at any rider whose bike might be losing fluid, and a fuel cap that has not been closed properly is one of the places such a leak can begin. Accossato's cap for the ZX-10R of 2021 to 2024 is the FC126, made of CNC-machined aluminium with a quick-closing pawl.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki ZX-10R, 2021 to 2024
- Machined from aluminium throughout on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl
- Pin available in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl replaceable on its own if damaged
- Robust and durable according to Accossato, new design
- No German ABE on file; for use on circuits
Construction and Material Quality
The FC126 consists entirely of aluminium that has been CNC-machined, and Accossato presents it as robust and durable, with a new design. Its closure is a quick-closing pawl: a short movement releases the cap from the ZX-10R's filler, and the same movement in reverse brings it home. The pawl carries the pin whose colour you choose from six. Accossato keeps the pawl available as a spare part, so a bent one after a tumble means ordering a small component rather than a complete cap.
The Black Flag with an Orange Disc
Marshals show a black flag with an orange disc, together with a rider's number, when they see a technical problem on that bike: smoke, a loose panel, or fluid dripping onto the track. The rider has to leave the circuit at the next opportunity, and on a track day the organiser will want to see the problem solved before the bike goes out again. Fuel is among the fluids that can bring out this flag. A cap that was not closed properly after a top-up can let fuel escape under hard braking or over the kerbs, leaving a slippery trail for everyone behind. On the ZX-10R the check takes seconds: after pouring, close the pawl, press the cap down with the flat of your hand and run a finger round the edge to feel for wetness. Wipe the tank top dry so that an old spill is not mistaken for a new leak. And if you ever do receive the flag, stop in the paddock, switch off and look at the cap first, then at everything else.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FC126 for the ZX-10R of 2021 to 2024, and this product follows that span. Earlier ZX-10R models appear with other Accossato caps, the FC113 for 2016 to 2020 and the FC143 for 2006 to 2015, so please confirm the model year of your bike. With us the FC126 is also listed for the Ninja 650 and the Versys 1000.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate documented for the FC126; we therefore sell it for circuit use. For the road, the ZX-10R should run its standard cap, which usually needs the ignition key to open.
Scope of Delivery
