DescriptionThe whole story▼
Petrol stations are among the most slippery places a motorcyclist visits regularly. Diesel spilled by lorries and vans spreads across the forecourt, and after rain it becomes almost invisible. An Aprilia Shiver 900 turning slowly towards the pump can lose its front wheel without warning, and the bike is on its side before the rider has put a foot down. For the Shiver 900 of 2017 and 2018, Accossato lists the TP052 crash pads, CNC-machined in aluminium with an anodised insert.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Aprilia Shiver 900, 2017 and 2018
- CNC-machined aluminium, according to Accossato
- Anodised insert: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Optional screw cover in matching colour
- Two pads per pack
- Drilling may be needed on some bikes; ask us before ordering
- PF031 front axle sliders also listed for this model
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the TP052 from aluminium on CNC machines. The insert is anodised, and you pick its colour from blue, green, black, red, silver and gold. A screw cover can be added in the same colour or omitted, depending on the variant you order. Two pads are packed together. If the Shiver 900 falls, they are meant to be the first point of contact with the ground, which may reduce the damage to the bodywork and frame. Damaged pads are replaced.
Diesel on the Forecourt
Diesel is hard to see, but there are clues: a rainbow sheen on wet ground, a strong smell of fuel, a dark and shiny patch near the pumps. Ride onto the forecourt slowly and upright, and avoid braking or turning sharply. Choose a pump that you can reach in a straight line, preferably one that lorries do not use. When you stop, put your foot down on a clean spot, because a boot on diesel slides as easily as a tyre. Refuel with the Shiver 900 on its side stand and the engine off, and wipe away any fuel you spill. Pull away gently when you leave. The same care applies at roundabouts and junctions near petrol stations and industrial estates. If the bike does go down, check the pads, the levers and the footrests, and clean the tyres before riding on.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the TP052 for the Shiver 900 of 2017 and 2018. According to the manufacturer, fitting its crash pads means drilling the fairing on some motorcycles, and its list does not name them, so please ask us before ordering whether your Shiver 900 requires it. The same pads are listed at Inter-Pace for the Dorsoduro 750 and the Shiver 750 as well. For the front of this bike, Accossato also makes the PF031 axle sliders.
Road Approval
The TP052 reaches us without a German ABE or any test document, which is why it is sold here for racing and competition.
Scope of Delivery
You receive two TP052 pads with inserts in the colour you selected; screw covers are part of the order only in the version with them.
