DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of Husqvarna TC 250s change hands after a season or two, and a used motocross bike tells its story through small details. A clutch lever with a shortened tip, filed smooth by a previous owner, says the two-stroke has been down on its left side at least once. Replacing it is often among the first jobs after the purchase. The C7284 from Accossato is a folding clutch lever for the TC 250 from 2014 to 2020, cut from Ergal 7075 in Italy and fitted with a joint, so that the next fall has a chance of ending differently.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna TC 250, 2014 to 2020
- Covers all three TC 250 version groups Accossato names for that period
- Goes on the original clutch mount in place of the stock lever
- Long blade for four fingers, as described by Accossato
- Folding joint, Accossato's anti-break system, instead of a solid blade
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 aluminium in Italy
- Blade in black, blue or orange; dark base
- No German ABE documented; for motocross and off-road competition
Construction and Material Quality
Racing motorcycles were Accossato's first products when the firm set up in Moncalieri, just south of Turin, in 1969, and its off-road levers are still made in Italy. The C7284 is machined out of solid Ergal 7075 rather than cast, which gives it the high strength of that aluminium alloy along with low weight; reliability is the third aim the company names. It is a two-part design. A dark base sits on the pivot of the clutch control, and a blade in your chosen colour is joined to it by the folding joint. On the clutch side Accossato makes the blade long, with room for four fingers.
Reading a Second-Hand TC 250
When you look over a used TC 250, the controls are a quick way to read its past. Bent or shortened blades, scuffed bar ends and a twisted handlebar usually go together. None of that makes the bike a bad buy, since motocross machines are meant to be raced and occasionally crashed, but it shows you which parts to set money aside for. A clutch lever that has been bent back into shape may also have been weakened, and nobody wants to discover that halfway through a race.
Choosing the replacement is simple here, because Accossato lists the C7284 for every TC 250 model year from 2014 to 2020, across its 2014 to 2016, 2017 to 2018 and 2019 to 2020 versions, so you don't need to know exactly which generation you bought. Once fitted, its joint looks after the future: in the next tip-over onto the left, the blade can hinge forward out of the way rather than breaking where it strikes. Not every impact leaves a lever intact, but a new folding one gives better odds than a used lever that has already been bent once.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7284 fits the original clutch mount of the Husqvarna TC 250 two-stroke in place of the stock lever. Its list ends with 2020. For 2022 Accossato names another clutch lever, the C7283, which is also made in red, and the 2021 bike is covered by neither. The matching B8283 folding brake lever is listed for 2014 to 2016, 2019 to 2020 and 2022, so a buyer of a 2017 or 2018 TC 250 will find only this clutch lever in Accossato's off-road range for that bike.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the C7284. It is sold for motocross and off-road competition, which suits the TC 250, a bike built for the track rather than for public roads.
