DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many cross-country races begin in a way that surprises motocross riders: with the engines off. Riders line up in rows, wait for the signal and only then start their bikes and launch, so the first seconds of the race depend on a quick restart and a clean clutch release. Accossato's C7284 is a folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna FX 450 of 2017. It is milled in Italy from Ergal 7075, offers a long blade for four fingers and has a joint that allows the blade to fold when the bike goes down.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna FX 450, 2017 model year
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Long four-finger blade
- Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward
- Milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black, blue or orange blade on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; off-road competition only
Construction and Material Quality
The C7284 is two machined parts that work as one lever. The dark base stays fixed on the pivot of the FX 450's original clutch control; the blade, in black, blue or orange, operates the clutch like any other lever, but thanks to the joint between them it can also fold forward under a hard knock. Accossato mills both from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, in Italy, and aims for strength, low weight and reliability. The blade is long and designed for four fingers.
Dead-Engine Starts
A dead-engine start adds a step to the launch. When the signal comes, riders first have to bring their engines to life and only then pull away, and every hesitation costs places before the first corner. The FX 450 has plenty of torque, so the challenge is less about power than about traction: a clutch released smoothly with the whole hand keeps the rear tyre hooked up on grass or damp soil, while a snatched release spins it and leaves the bike fishtailing as the rest of the row gets away.
What follows is often the most crowded part of the race, a fast run into the first woods section with many riders side by side. Bars touch, someone falls in front of you, and the FX 450 ends up on its side in a heap of bikes. The left lever is exposed in these moments, and a broken clutch lever at the start of a two- or three-hour race would be a disaster. The C7284's joint lets the blade fold forward under an impact instead of snapping, so there is a real chance it will still work when you lift the bike. It cannot promise that, but it keeps the odds on your side.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7284 for the Husqvarna FX 450 of 2017, fitted at the original clutch mount in place of the stock lever. No other FX 450 model year is covered by this listing. For the front brake there is the B8283, also listed for 2017. Both levers come in black, blue or orange, so the two sides can be matched.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7284. It is intended for off-road competition, the same use the FX 450 is designed for.
