DescriptionThe whole story▼

Honda's XL750 Transalp is a travel enduro in the traditional sense: a parallel-twin engine, a tall 21-inch front wheel, an upright and roomy riding position, and owners who plan trips across borders rather than around the block. Long journeys bring luggage, often a passenger, and thick gloves on large hands. The Accossato EDF018 replaces the front brake lever of the Transalp with a CNC-machined aluminium lever for bikes listed from 2023 to 2025. Its reach is adjustable, and alongside the standard blade it is made in a long version that leaves room for all four fingers.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Honda XL750 Transalp, 2023 to 2025
  • Fits the original master cylinder
  • Long blade for four-finger braking, available in blue, gold, green and orange
  • Standard blade approximately 138 mm, offered in all seven colours
  • Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
  • Adjustable distance to the grip
  • Anodised CNC-machined aluminium, black hub, no hinge

Construction and Material Quality

Travel bikes tend to be washed often, usually after a day of dust or rain, and the finish on their controls has to put up with that routine. The EDF018 is machined from aluminium and then anodised, which puts its colour inside a hard oxide layer at the surface of the metal instead of in a coat of paint on top. There is nothing to lift at the edges when a sponge, a brush or a gloved hand passes over the blade. The black hub carries the pivot and the adjuster; the blade, finished in the colour of your choice, continues to the tip as one solid piece without a folding joint.

Room for the Whole Hand

How a rider brakes becomes obvious on a loaded travel bike. With panniers, a top box and perhaps a passenger, the Transalp needs more force for the same stop, and many riders then use all four fingers for a strong, steady squeeze. The long EDF018 gives those fingers space along the blade. Because the hand pulls further from the pivot, it also gains leverage, so the same effort produces more pressure at the master cylinder, which is welcome late on a long day when the hand is tired and the gloves are damp. The adjuster then sets where the travel begins: large hands in bulky gloves usually want the blade a little further out, so that the fingers close around it instead of meeting it too early. Riders who prefer the opposite approach, two fingers on the lever and two on the grip, can choose the short blade, which ends early and leaves the outer fingers free.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list covers the XL750 Transalp from 2023 to 2025, the parallel-twin model rather than the V-twin Transalps that carried the name from the late 1980s. The lever replaces the original part on the Honda master cylinder. For the clutch side, Accossato names the ESY688H for the same three years, with the same colours and lengths, so the pair can be matched.

Road Approval

A German ABE has not been documented for the EDF018 on the Transalp; we therefore sell it for closed-course use.
