DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 016 presents the Hypermotard 950's lighting controller with the current draw it expects, which is the whole of what the original filament lamp was doing for it.
Key Features
- Ducati Hypermotard 950 (2019–2025)
- Restores the load the plate lamp circuit expects
- No lamp failure warning after a tail tidy
- Plugs into Ducati's own connector
- Nothing cut, nothing spliced
- Standard lamp refits at any time
Wide Bars and a Tall Seat
The Hypermotard is a supermoto with a registration document, and the riding position makes no concession at all to motorway comfort.
Why Riders Are Caught Out
The plate hanger is usually the first thing an owner changes, and nobody expects a small bulb behind a number plate to be electrically monitored.
Reversible
Refit the bracket and the lamp, unplug the eliminator, and the circuit behaves exactly as it did before anything was changed.
A Small Part, a Large Annoyance
Nothing about a plate lamp matters until it produces a dashboard warning that will not go away. Then it becomes the only thing anybody talks about.
Heat Is Not a Concern Here
Unlike an indicator resistor, a plate lamp load is tiny and the eliminator runs cool. It can be tucked anywhere convenient under the tail.
The Connector Is Exposed Anyway
It comes into view the moment the hanger is unbolted, so the eliminator adds nothing to the time the job already takes.
Not a Legal Workaround
The eliminator satisfies the electronics and nothing else. Where a lit plate is required, one must be fitted, and this part makes no claim otherwise.
The Load It Restores
The eliminator presents the current draw the circuit expects, potted into a body with Ducati's own connector moulded onto it. The controller reads a normal load, reports nothing and stores nothing, which means a later diagnostic session shows a genuine history rather than a warning somebody learned to ignore.
What the Load Actually Is
The circuit expects the current a small filament lamp draws, which is a fraction of an amp rather than anything dramatic. That is why the eliminator is a small sealed body rather than a heatsink, and why mounting it sensibly is a matter of tidiness rather than of thermal management.
