The JP ESR 004 emulates the RSV4 Factory's suspension control unit for a bike converted away from the Öhlins system.

A Separate Computer
The suspension module is its own control unit with its own harness, reading the six-axis platform and driving three sets of actuators. It is not part of the engine ECU.
When It Becomes Redundant
Once the forks, the shock and the damper are all mechanical, the module has nothing to do. A full race conversion removes it along with everything it controlled.
The Network Notices
Other controllers expect the module to answer. With it gone the dashboard reports the absence at every start and the warning does not clear.
Emulated Properly
This part answers in its place, so the network is complete and the panel stays clear. Nothing else in the electronics is touched.
Mass and Complexity
Module, bracket and harness all leave. On a motorcycle assembled around removing weight and simplifying what can fail, that is the point.
The Order Matters
This is the last part of a conversion. The actuator eliminators come first and this one finishes the job once nothing is left to control.
Keep the Parts
The module and the Öhlins components sell readily as a set. Nothing about this conversion damages any of them.
Nothing Spliced
Aprilia's own connector, no adapters and nothing cut anywhere in the harness.
Reversible
Refit the module and the standard suspension and everything behaves as before.
Not for the Road
On a registered Factory the module is doing continuous, useful work.
Where the Module Sits
Aprilia packages it under the tail with its harness running forward to each actuator. Removing the assembly clears space that a data logger or a lap timer transmitter can use rather more productively.
