DescriptionThe whole story▼

For decades the Suzuki GSX-R 750 has occupied a class of exactly one machine: too quick to be grouped with the 600s, too manageable to feel like a litre bike. Riders who own one tend to know precisely why, and they usually keep it longer than the fashion cycle would suggest. Accossato lists the model from 2004 to 2017 against the FC122, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium whose pawl carries a pin in one of six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Suzuki GSX-R 750, 2004 to 2017
  • Aluminium, machined from solid on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing without delay
  • Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
  • Replacement pawl available as a separate part
  • New design by Accossato, founded in 1969 in Moncalieri
  • Compare your machine with the application list
  • No German ABE documented; supplied for the track

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato, a company that started in Moncalieri in 1969 and now works from Villastellone, machines this cap wholly from aluminium and calls it robust and durable. Function comes down to the quick-closing pawl, which opens the GSX-R 750's tank in one movement and shuts it in another, and to the pin inside it, offered in six colours. The choice of colour is made at the time of ordering and is the only variable on the part. If the pawl is ever damaged, it is replaced by itself rather than with the whole cap.

Neither a 600 nor a Litre Bike

At a track day the group system usually sorts riders by lap time rather than by engine size, and the 750 is the machine that shows why that is sensible. It carries enough drive to keep company with bigger bikes down a straight and enough poise to be ridden like a supersport machine through a chicane. What that means in practice is a bike used across the whole day rather than spared, and a fuel stop that arrives sooner than the owner of a smaller machine expects. A cap that opens with one pull suits that rhythm. Set the GSX-R 750 on its stand, let it stand still for a moment, fill it, close it and be back in the queue before your group is called.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list covers the GSX-R 750 from 2004 to 2017 for this cap. At Inter-Pace the FC122 is also listed for the GSX-R 600, the GSX-S1000 and the DL1000 V-Strom. Please check your bike against the application list before ordering; we are happy to look it up with you.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no parts certificate are on record for the FC122, so the cap is intended for closed courses. On the road the GSX-R 750 should wear its standard cap, which normally opens with the ignition key.

Scope of Delivery
