DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every clutch has a bite point, the part of the lever travel where the plates begin to take up drive, and every rider has a preference for where it should sit in relation to the grip. Accossato's ESH011, the machined replacement for the clutch lever of the Monster 1200 S built from 2014 to 2019, lets you choose. Its adjustable reach moves the resting position of the blade, and with it the bite point, closer to the bar or further away, until the Monster 1200 S engages where your fingers want it to.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Monster 1200 S, 2014 to 2019, including the 2015 S Stripe
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; short and long versions in some colours
- Aluminium, cut on CNC machines and anodised
- Black hub; blade in one of seven anodised colours
- Rigid lever with no folding joint
- No German ABE documented; offered for the track
Construction and Material Quality
The ESH011 is made from solid aluminium, shaped on CNC machines and then anodised. Its hub is anodised black, as on every lever in this Accossato range, and holds the pivot together with the mechanism that sets the reach. The blade comes in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. Blade and hub form one rigid lever without a folding joint, so the only movement the lever makes is its swing around the pivot, and the bite point stays where you have set it.
Where the Bite Point Lands
With the blade set far from the grip, the clutch on the Monster 1200 S bites early in the pull, while the fingers are still extended. Brought closer, the bite point moves towards the bar and the fingers meet it in a more curled position. Neither is right for everyone. Riders who pull away with two fingers usually want the bite point near the middle of their finger range, where small movements are easiest to control. Riders who pull the lever fully to the bar at every change may prefer it further out, so there is room for the whole movement.
Try a setting, ride a few town streets, then adjust in small steps. Even a small change at the adjuster is noticeable at the friction zone.
Fitment and Compatibility
This clutch lever covers the Monster 1200 S of 2014 to 2019 in Accossato's list, the S Stripe edition of 2015 included. On the brake side, the EDF099 carries on until 2021. Owners of the standard 1200 or the 1200 R will find their bikes on separate pages.
Road Approval
Because a German ABE is not documented, this clutch lever is offered for the track.
